Appreciate you joining us on Class 1 and encourage you to share this with others and invite them to the future classes. And we'll be able to get them access to that as well so they can come up to speed with us. So let's go and get started. This is the first class. We're going to be talking about two key principles that are really, really important. These are the foundational ones. Understanding this helps us to really get what we're going to be talking about in the future classes. And of course, we have natural law. And natural law is just like, this is one of those things that people just really don't grasp. They're like, where is that written? And so when they ask that, you know, well, okay, you don't get the concept. And so we want to be able to go over that. And then if you kind of do, it's good to kind of have an overview and maybe have a different angle taken for it. And then also, this is a battle between Christ and Satan. And so it's essential that we understand the tactics that are used to try and get us out of the battle because Satan, of course, the easiest battle is the battle not thought. And so if he can get us to not even engage in this battle, he's already won. And so we want to be able to go through some of the key things that Satan does to get us to just step out and not think that there's anything that can be done. The purpose of these classes, right, is we need to build understanding of the principles that have built free nations, expose the satanic conspiracy, and build an effective resistance to that conspiracy. I've been involved in Liberty for 20 years now. And what I've noticed is that people think they know things that they don't know. And this was especially manifest during 2020 and 2021, where people were just losing their minds. They were really angry, justly so about what the government was doing with mandates, shutting things down, saying that you couldn't meet in your home with your family for the days. And so people were really angry and they wanted to do something. But what we noticed was that they didn't have the fundamental principles of liberty, of natural law, of the constitution, and what the conspiracy was doing. And so people were easily duped into doing things that were actually worse than doing nothing at all. And so we felt that it was essential to put together a course to help us all as we wake up to be like, okay, well, what do we do? Make sure we don't fall for the wolves and sheep's clothing. Make sure we don't just jump into the first thing that we see, that we're able to get a grasp of what needs to be done, what should be done. And so these are things, these are foundations that really you're not going to see in any other class in the Constitution. I've been doing this for a long time. And that's what we wanted to do is we've seen people go through a lot of other classes on the Constitution, but they're still continuing to fall for the same things and engage in the same solutions that actually empower their conspiracy. And so we needed to say, okay, where were these falling short and what gap needs to be filled to make sure we don't do this anymore? And so it's clear. And we want to go back to the Declaration of Independence. This is the foundation document to what later became this union of 13 independent nations. And there are some key principles of natural law in the Declaration of Independence. And they explain that, they use that term right there. This is to assume the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and nature's God entitle them. So laws of nature, nature's God, natural law. That's what they're referring to when they're talking about this. And so what are those things? So what is natural law? Where is it written? Right? People say, well, most laws, right? We think of laws. We think of government. We think of legislative bodies that they vote on it. It's written down. Who decided on natural law might be a question that people ask. And so when you think of that, we need to understand this principle. We have this ball here, right? What happens if we throw it in the air? The ball falls down, right? How do we know that? We've observed it. But what happens if something else happens, right? We take a different step. Who voted on the fact that if we throw a ball up in the air, the ball is going to fall down? Nobody voted on it. But let's say, you know, let's say we did. Let's say we voted on it. And we said, it is now illegal for balls to fall down after we throw them up in the air. What is going to happen? Balls will still fall down that us, you know, this is not going to change this natural law, this thing that is true no matter when and where, right? It's unchangeable. It's a principle that we can depend on throughout time and that it's unchangeable and that we can, we can, you know, throughout time, the wheel has changed. Technology changes, smoother, it maybe has a more comfortable ride, might last longer. But the basic fundamental principle of the wheel rolling is still intact thousands of years after its invention. And so it's something that's no matter when, no matter where, no matter what. And so the Declaration of Independence talks about these laws of nature and that nature is God in regards to human interaction and human rights. It starts off. We hold these truths to be self -evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unamenable rights. Okay, our rights come from God. That among these rights that we get from God are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And that to secure these rights, that God gave us, we need to protect them. governments were instituted among men deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. So we create government to be able to protect our God -given rights. And because we created it, we give certain authority to government. And that's where they get their just powers from. That whenever any government becomes destructive to these ends, meaning destructive to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish that government and then to institute new government that will protect your rights. It's self -evident, meaning it's obvious, no matter what other people say. We're not going to argue with you. If you're going to tell us that grass is purple, we're not going to have an argument. You're just not an honest person. If we don't agree with these things, then there's just no way to be able to associate and have an honest discussion. We get our rights from God. That is self -evident that if government gives us our rights, that means government can take them away. But no, God gave us our rights. And then some of these rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, or the accumulation of property and control of that property. Government was created by the people to protect, not give us our rights. We have rights given to us from God. government's role is simply to protect them. We have in the so -called Bill of Rights, which I think might have been not the best name to give it, because it's not a bill of things that the government gives you. It's those things that the government can't violate. It's a list of thou shalt nots. And so we think of the First Amendment, right, the right to freedom of religion. Does that mean that the government has to provide you with a church? Or freedom of the press? Does that mean the government has to give you a website or a printing press. No. They just can't stop you from speaking your mind. They can't stop you from exercising your religion freely. People talk about rights today as if it's something the government owes you. But that is completely the antithesis of freedom and actually leads to tyranny. Government's sole role is to protect rights, not to provide them. And so government, of course, it gets its authority from those that created it. We are superior because we created it and they are inferior and so they are subject to us. But if the government thinks itself more superior to its creator, then it's our job. It's our duty to either change that government or to dissolve it and to come up with a new government that will actually protect our rights. Because pieces of paper don't enforce themselves. The scriptures don't enforce themselves. They are God's law for us, but We have to enforce them. Same thing with the Constitution. The Constitution has to be enforced by living people. Otherwise, those that seek for power will take more and more. And so we want to look at the examples of others that have had success in restoring the liberty for themselves and their associates and their people. Throughout time, it's important for us to understand the Founding others, when they were forming the Constitution, what they were doing was they were looking throughout the past to see what governments did that help protect liberty. But what hasn't really a study hasn't been done that we're going to cover throughout this course is what have people done throughout time to be able to restore lost liberty? Because that's something that's not covered a lot. We need to follow natural law and look at people in the past that have showed us the way. We don't have to reinvent the wheel. It's already been invented. But as I mentioned earlier, this is a battle between Christ and Satan. And so Satan wants you out of the battle because that's going to be a battle not thought. And so we need to understand that there is not a time in history where liberty has been gained without effort. Real effort. Not simply writing a sternly written letter to a tyrant or a Satan worshipper, as we'll cover in future classes. It takes effort. That's not a passive thing. And there is a movement that seeks to get religious people, especially, out of the battle. And they use so -called prophecy to make people think that there's nothing that can or should be done. So some background. This is something that has been interesting to me. I'm not just a poo -pooing the idea of prophecy. I've read all of these books and some of them I like and some of them I don't like, but there's just examples. I've done a lot of reading on this. They're the scriptures through books. And so it's important for us to understand this idea of how Satan uses the end times to say there's nothing you can do about it. In fact, there was a talk I went to several years ago in Arizona where there was an author, a guy that not well known today, but during during the 2000s to 2010 was pretty fairly well known. And he was giving a talk. And he said his premise was basically the idea that all you need to enter into Zion was your food storage. And basically that the worst things get, that means that the Lord is returning. And so what we need to do is not fight against evil, not fight to promote good, but actually make it so either we just allow evil to continue or we promote evil. And so that way that will supposedly bring back the Savior faster was the idea, was the concept. It's something that I hear a lot. It's one of the main reasons I hear from people as to why they're not involved in liberty because they think that there's nothing they can do about it because it's all set in stone. And that evil is just going to continue and tell some imaginary line in the sand where the Lord is like, you know what? You've killed one too many babies. Now I'm going to come and kill everyone that's wicked. Why that hasn't happened already, if that's the line in the sand, is preposterous, is ridiculous. So we're going to go over false predictions, historically what Christians understood about their duty, and then how this changed to where we see today. And then what is our job in preparing for the return of the Savior. That'll help us because people are always giving their opinion on the second coming. There are videos, there are books that talk about this. So growing up, there was a televangelist, a pastor that, you know, had a TV program where he talked about the second coming and he predicted it first coming in 1994. And then we have here in 2011 where he said that the second coming was going to be happening this year. So this is a video clip of when, uh, of what he said. I started in Oakland, California at the headquarters of a fundamentalist Christian broadcaster, Harold Camping. He thinks the end is pretty near. You're predicting the world for September. Right. So do you want to take us through? In Matthew 24, verse 21, it says, and then there will be great tribulation such as this world has never known nor ever shall know in other words it's the end the evidence in the bible points to the fact that september 6 of 1994 will be the last day of the final tribulation period first second third fourth fifth six seven eighth nine 10th okay 15th no i'm not completely on happened on on September 6th a lot's it's going to happen when I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal and lo there was a great earthquake that's this day right here excuse me what is the authority that makes you think that you know we can't know that time I come with all kinds of information and proofs and the signs that indicate were there remember the Bible, the numbers are words. Numbers are words. Well, now, the number 17 is a word. Does it have spiritual meaning? Yes, indeed. It does have spiritual meaning. Five times ten, times 17, times five, times ten, times seventeen. And those are dramatically significant numbers. And one more time, five times 5 times 10 times 17 times 5 times 10 times 17 equals 722 ,500, which are the number of days inclusively from April 1 33 AD and May 21 2011 when the rapture occurs. So these followers of Harold camping were very much dedicated to and they believed what he was saying. And so they put up billboards where they said that he was coming in May 21st of 2011. Even to go so far as to say the Bible guarantees it. Well, unless I missed it, I don't think the rapture happened. I don't know anybody that got raptured in 2011 and later on in June. I mean, later on the year, I think he said September. And you have Ezra's Eagle that also the original things that people said about it and they changed it, but there's lots of false predictions going throughout time, going back to one of the early popes and religious philosophers, John Wesley, Jehovah Witnesses, Rudolph Steiner held camping, Palmonite scrolls, Chad and Lori Daybell. And then now we've got next year. So we've just got about, you know, what is that, six, seven months away is when the next prediction that I've heard that people are claiming when the second coming is going to be. So we have lots of false predictions. And so this leads to really, it's basically a misunderstanding of our role. It's something that has been going on since even the days of the early apostles we see in second Thessalonians, where Paul had had to talk to the saints and explain to them that, no, you know, there's some things that have to happen first. He says that ye be not soon shaken in mind or be troubled, neither by spirit nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as at the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means, for that day shall not come except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed the son of perdition. So there had to be some things done first in advance. So they understood that there was a process, right? And so now this brings people into these false dichotomies of, well, there's no need to pay any attention because it's all just nonsense anyway. It's all false. And then you have the other extreme of Jesus is coming. There's nothing you can do about it. So just kind of just be a passenger on this ride called life and wait for Jesus to come save you because you're so worthy of being saved, doing nothing but sitting there waiting to be saved. And so, of course, these are false dichotomies like we see in the political realm. But we need to understand our key role. This is our role. We go to the parable in Luke chapter 19 where the Lord says to occupy until I come. Now the parable is about his vineyard. And he tells his servants to take care. He's leaving and that they're to occupy the vineyard until he comes. Now, if you're the Lord's servants, the Lord of the Vineyard's servants, and you're told to occupy until he returns, are you going to say, well, he's going to return so there's nothing I can do about it? We're just going to wait. You can see that the vineyard would become dilapidated, and it would start to fall apart, and it would not be a very beautiful thing. He would not be very proud of you when he returned. And so when we're told to occupy, we're told that that means we're supposed to take care of business. We're supposed to care for things. Are we, or is the world a more Christian place? Is the world more following the principles of the Savior? Are we building something better? Or are we letting it go into disrepair because of our lack of action? Of course, we're told to watch because we don't know and that we can be ready. So what are we going to be watching for? The Founding Fathers didn't believe that they were all Christians, right? They were 27 of the founding fathers were clergy. Their attitude was not, oh, King George is getting worse. Isn't this fantastic? That means the Lord's returning faster. That was not their attitude at all because they were supposed to occupy and make things better. They didn't know when he was going to come. And so their job was to make things as good as possible until he did return. And so that's why the English called the revolution or the war for independence a Presbyterian rebellion because it was the religious people that were involved in this because they knew their duty to make things better because they didn't know when the Lord was going to return. John Adams said the general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. So it was because of their Christian belief that they worked to destroy tyranny and to build a free society. We have Samuel Adams, his cousin. He said that we have this day restored the sovereign to whom alone men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven and with a propitous eye beholds his subjects, assuming that freedom of thought and dignity of self -direction which he bestowed upon them. So again, their job, they restored God as the proper sovereign instead of the usurper of the king. And then, of course, we have Thomas Jefferson who said rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God. None of these people believed that they just had to make things worse or just not do anything. Their job to obey God was to establish a free society. But then something happens. A shift begins in the 1830s. And I find this very interesting how you have something that God establishes and that's something, of course, that Satan comes up as a counterfeit. So at the 1830s, you have Margaret McDonald and you have John Nelson Darby who promote this new idea that's not found in the scriptures and that's not something that any Christian believed before this point. And that was in this thing called the rapture, which is the idea that believers will be taken up to heaven while the wicked burn leading up to the return of the Savior. And so that we don't have to worry about it because we're going to be taken up and that the wicked were then going to be burned. So any effort to oppose evil is working against the events of the second coming as this mindset. And so a lot of books that preach this idea and movies that have been based on this, like left behind and lots of other books and videos that talk about it. And of course, and Satan wants you out of the battle. He says this. This is that the Lord's going to protect you. And besides, right, the world is so corrupt and heading towards destruction. Such a pace, you can't stop it, so why even try? How many of us have fallen for that? And so we see this mindset creeping into Christian circles where the Moody Monthly published an article about what we should be doing about what Christians should be doing about communism and its rise in Europe. It says that It may be, however, that our Lord shall come before such problems of communism enter upon their serious solution, and thus many, if not all of the readers, will be spared the trouble of grappling with them. This is almost a hundred years ago. And you imagine their job, they're saying the Lord's going to come. We don't have to even worry about it. And so lots of Christians just didn't engage, didn't stand up for what was right and promote correct principles because they felt that it didn't matter because the Lord was going to be returning anyways. And so it wasn't something I had to worry about. In fact, that same exact year, you had pastors over 430 ministers in New York City all signed a petition to get the President of the United States to recognize, officially recognize the Soviet Union, so then actually taxpayer dollars to go and fund the Soviets until basically the 1990s to prop them up. And so we have these Christians that should have been fighting against evil and fighting to build a more godly society were actually not just passive saying allow this to happen, but they were fighting to make things worse. And this attitude reminds me of Jonah a whole lot. He was told to go and preach to Nineveh and tell them to repent and that they were, that they were wicked and that they were going to be destroyed. And God saw their works and that they turned from their evil way and repented. And God turned away the evil that he said he would bring upon them. And he did it not. So he told his prophet to go and warn the people, tell them that they were wicked and that they were going to be destroyed. And so the people actually, they had their heart softened. And they said, you know what? You're right. And I'm going to do the right thing. And I'm going to turn myself to the Lord. But because the people repented, Jonah was actually angry. And he prayed in the Lord and said, I pray the, oh, Lord, was not this my saying. Didn't I say it? Wasn't it inevitable? Because I said that you're going to be destroyed because you're so wicked. And so I think a lot of times this is what this rapture cult mentality comes from is this, the Lord said it. So it's going to happen. And so we need to understand that throughout the scriptures that we have blessings and cursings. If you do X, then Y will happen. And so we need to understand this principle of what it is that our job is, is not to tell people or to believe ourselves that there's nothing we can do about it. All blessings are predicated upon obedience to a law. Nothing's automatic. And so a lot of people think that this is what's going to happen and that they're just sitting here waiting for the Lord to return and fight all of their battles for them, right? Can't someone else just do it? I get to be just relaxing and just taking care of my kids and not worrying about what's going on and just live my life while somebody else takes care of this for us. But liberty takes work, a lot of work, because we know that faith without works is dead and also that works without faith is dead. You have to have the two together, because this is something that we need God's help with. You know, just like with our gardens, I cannot just say, well, you know, God said that he would fight my battles for me. And so I can't do anything without him. And so I'm just going to let him grow my garden for me. No, he expects us to plant the seeds and to weed the weeds and to, you know, make sure that it's irrigated and watered and taken care of. And he provides the sunshine and the rain that I can't provide. Faith does take action. You show your faith through your actions. We understand this is not a new thing. We need to understand that these principles that we're trying to help build a foundation on and so that we can see when we're being lied to and when somebody is trying to get us to be an active. And that's what you can tell is because we're supposed to be doers of the word. And so Satan is working through his earthly servants as well as through the spirit to get us to give up. And so we need to understand correct principles so that we know when false principles are being taught to us. Joseph Smith said that how may be asked, was this known to be a bad angel? He says by his contradicting a form of revelation. So if we understand the revelations, then we'll know that things are false and not correct. And we need to make sure that we're aware of false theories that contradict these previous teachings. And so we need to ask ourselves, have we been given a key to understand prophecy? One of the best prolific missionaries of this dispensation is Party P. Pratt. He wrote two really important missionary tracks, one called the Science to the Key of Theology, and then this one, the voice of warning. Where he talks about the fact that we are in the last days, which is a fact, but how do we understand these things? He says, but first, for the definite rule of interpretation, for this, we will not depend on any man or commentary, or the Holy Ghost has given it by the mouth of Peter, knowing this, that no prophecy of the scriptures of any private interpretation. It continues, now if we should find in our research is that every prophecy which has been fulfilled, it follows of necessity that every prophecy, which is yet future, will not fail of a literal fulfillment. Let us commence with the days of Noah. In the verses which follow the above, the Lord commands Noah to enter the ark and take with him animals of every kind. It was well for Noah that he was not well versed in the spiritualizing systems of modern divinity. He would have been told that the flood meant a spiritual flood and the ark, a spiritual arc. And the moment he thought otherwise, he would have been set down for a fanatic, a knave, or a fool. So this is the key that we've been given. These aren't just spiritual things that we have to uncode and decode. But one of the things that Joseph Smith said that causes the most problems. People read like Isaiah, for example is that they try to spiritualize it as opposed to he said that we need to read them as they are written so prophecy of course is literal and we're told that we have a duty this doctrine covenant section 123 verse 13 we are told that we are to waste and wear out our lives exposing the hidden things of darkness and in second nephi we're told that we are to act and not be acted upon we are to be doers of the word. So there are some things, just like Paul told the saints back in the ancient days, some things that had to be done first. But we've also been told what are some things that we need to be working towards? We need to be building, right? We need to occupy until he comes. And so what are those things? The first thing that we're going to talk about tonight is Zion has to be established beforehand. I think too many of us believe that it's something that's going to happen afterwards, that somebody's going to take care of this for us. But we're going to go through the scriptures that show that, no, that's not the facts. And that the fact is the kingdom of God has to be an operation, political kingdom of God. And then that serial combinations are going to be destroyed amongst these communities. And that Satan will be bound, all previous because of the things that we've done as individuals and working together. So one, Zion must be established. John Taylor said, but if Zion is never built up, the Lord will never come, for he must have a people and a place to come to. I think this is something that we need to have, right, just repeated in our brains over and over again. He's waiting for us. We're not waiting for him. We have to build Zion. He has to have a people to come to. So what does Zion look like the lord called his people zine because they were of one heart one mind and they dwelt in righteousness and there was no poor among them said that in the nations of the earth shall honor her so the nations of the earth meaning the gentile nations the the wicked nations of the earth will will still exist when zion is established we're not waiting for everything to be destroyed those evil nations will still exist when zion is established they're going to recognize her surely zion is the city of our God, and surely Zion cannot fall, for God is here, is there, and the hand of the Lord is there, for this is Zion, the pure and heart. So you can't have wickedness in Zion. So this idea of libertinism, where we just allow people to, you know, do any kind of debauchery that they can think of is also not something that will be around in Zion. But behold, they have not learned to be obedient. This is the reason why they weren't allowed to build Zion. This is why those things were taken away in the 1830s. The Lord says that they have not learned to be obedient to the things which I required at their hands, but are full of all manner of evil. And Zion cannot be built up unless it is by the principles of the law of the celestial kingdom. Otherwise, I cannot receive her unto myself. So we have to understand what those are and to live them. So just to recap what Zion is. It becomes unified in truth, right? We're not, this isn't unity for unity's sake. We're not just being passive, aggressive, and just going along to get along. We're becoming united on correct principles. We're one heart and one mind. We also have to be a holy people. We have to understand correct principles, and we have to apply and live by them. And we have to care for those that can't care for themselves to such effectiveness that there's no poor among us, right? Zion comes when we do these things. It's not like all of a sudden, right? Like a lot of people think, well, you know, when I die, I won't have my addictions anymore. That's not true. The same thing, right? If we're not here building these things, when the Lord comes, what use are we to him to help him do whatever he's going to be doing? We have to be doing these things right now to prove ourselves as faithful servants. Doctrine Covenants, talking about the New Jerusalem, Zion, the land of peace, a city of refuge, a place of safety for the saints of the Most High God. So this righteous city is a place of safety against what? A place of safety for the saints. And the glory of the Lord shall be there and the terror of the Lord shall be there. And so much that the wicked will not come into it and it shall be called Zion. So the wicked will still exist when Zion is established, and they're going to be, they're not going to want to come to it. And it shall come to pass among the wicked that every man that will not take his sword against his neighbor must flee to Zion for safety. And it shall be said among the wicked, let us not go up to battle against Zion, for the inhabitants of Zion are terrible. Wherefore we cannot stand. So again, they're going to exist. They're going to still be here. They're not going to be burned up while we're sucked up into heaven. We're building something that is better. And they're going to say because of our power that they can't come against us, that we are terrible and they can't stand to come against us. Are we at that point right now where if the wicked came against the righteous, would we be able to withstand? And it came to pass, it shall come to pass, that the righteous shall be gathered out from among all nations, and they shall come to Zion singing with songs of everlasting joy. Come to a place while those other wicked nations still exist. George Cucanid says, I expect to see the day when the Latter -day Saints will be the people to maintain constitutional government on this land. Men everywhere should know that we believe in constitutional principles and that we expect that it will be our destiny to maintain them. The causes are in operation to bring it out. We are not alone in the thought that the Republic is drifting steadily in that direction. Can you imagine that? In the 1860s, they're already saying that, you know, the Republic is in a dire situation, that we are leaving the old constitutional landmarks. Men will be compelled to flee to the Mormons, despised as they are now. And then the prophet Brigham Young said that there is no man on this earth who can receive the kingdom of God in his heart and be governed according the laws of that kingdom without being governed and controlled in all temporal matters. If you are not of one heart and mind in these things, never think of Jackson County because you're not going to be wanted there. No man is going to inherit a celestial glory who trifles with the principles thereof, the man who does not labor from day to day and from hour to hour for building up this kingdom and bringing forth the fullness of the kingdom of God on the earth and the establishment of Zion will sooner or later fall. So we can see what that mindset is of just riding through life and not having a goal in mind of something that you're building to make things better, not saying that I just got to get my food storage and go hide in a cave somewhere until everything falls apart. No, that is not our job. And if that is our mindset, what is going to happen to us? Because if we can't learn to keep the commandments of God in the great Salt Lake City, how do we expect to keep them somewhere else? Of course, the nearest way to the center stick of Zion is through the Great Salt Lake City. Where is the center stick of Zion in Jackson County, Missouri? So basically meaning under, you know, proper authority. And then Hebrae C. Kimball explained, the kingdom will be built up. The elect gathered and the chosen ones go back to the center stake of Zion. There are a great many that are remaining in the states till we go back. But I can tell them they will have to come here for this is the only way there is for the true saints to get to Jackson County. So basically the idea that we just get to do these things and these things are just going to happen. They're saying, no, we've got to live a certain way. We've got to prove, right? We were driven because we rejected or we didn't live up to the standard. And so basically we're in the wilderness wandering until we can live up to that standard, and then we can return and build that. John Taylor said that we have enlisted in this kingdom, we have enlisted in this kingdom for the purpose of working righteousness, growing up in righteousness, and in purity, that we might have a heaven in our families, in our city and neighborhoods, a Zion right in our midst, live it in ourselves, and persuade everybody else to abide its holy laws. So there's a standard that has to be met and lived by. So Zion is going to be established before the second coming. The second thing is the kingdom of God established. So what is the kingdom of God? Our culture has kind of merged two different bodies together into one thing when that's not exactly the facts. So what is the kingdom of God? Joseph Smith taught There is a distinction between the Church of God and the Kingdom of God. It is an entire, distinct, and separate government. Church, Kingdom of God. Two separate organizations, two separate governments. The church is a spiritual matter and a spiritual kingdom, but the kingdom which Daniel saw, so the church isn't what Daniel saw, he says, was not a spiritual kingdom, but was designed to be God up for the safety and salvation of the saints by protecting them in their religious rights and worship. So the kingdom of God's job is to protect liberty, protect the rights of the people, because the apostate governments were going to be getting into that in class number three in greater detail is designed to protect the rights of the people. He then explained that the two were distinct as the church was not designed to government and civil matters. And the kingdom was not designed to affect our salvation hereafter. So we understand distinctively that these are separate things. And this understanding continued as the saints moved west. George Buchanan taught that we have been taught from the beginning this important principle. But the church of God is distinct from the kingdom of God. distinct, separate. In the midst of all of us who understand this matter, there is a clear distinction between the church in its ecclesiastical capacity and that which may be termed the government of God in its political capacity. The kingdom of God is a political organization. You also said the kingdom of God is to become a political power, known and recognized by the powers of the earth. So again, the other nations of the earth are still going to exist when the political kingdom of God is established. And you, my brethren, may have to be sent forth to represent that power as its accredited agents. So there's going to be people that are part of the political kingdom of God, the recognized political entity that will go forward as ambassadors to represent it to the other nations of the earth that still exist. This is not something that happens after all the destruction after the return of the Savior. The nation still exist at this point. So the kingdom of God is not the church. And the kingdom of God is a political government. So what's the governing body of the kingdom of God? It was called the Council of 50. It was established in the 1840s. There was a revelation constituting the kingdom of God in April 1844. It says, Verdi, thus say the Lord, ye, meaning the Council of 50 are my constitution and I am your God and you are my spokesman from henceforth do as I shall command you say it the Lord that's the entire constitution of the kingdom of God compare that to like the UN charter or even the US constitution the more righteous something gets right the smaller than it gets more succinct so there are some some really important resources because not only you know have we not, has this not culturally been understood that these are separate organizations, but there's been very little for us to be able to understand the things that I've been covering so far for a long time. Back going back to 60s or 70s, the only book you really had was Quest for Empire, maybe another one. And then in 2012, the minutes for the Council of 50 during Brigham Young and John Taylor's administration were released and published by signature books. And then two years later, you had the Joe Smith Papers Project, released the administrative records, a council of 15 minutes at March 1844 to January 1846. That was the Council of 50 during Joseph's term, and then a little bit into after his death, his martyrdom. And then our book club that we've been covering for this is the first and third Wednesdays of every month. We have our Liberty Book Club. love to have you join us. But this is the book that we're reading right now, the Council of 50, what the records reveal about Mormon history. And so what each of those chapters get into, each chapter is written by a different historian that gets into what kind of stuck out to him. What did he learn when reading the Council of 50 minutes. And so kind of really breaks things down, kind of brings out some nuggets instead of just reading through the minutes as if it was a novel. The kingdom of God, right, talked about it was what Daniel for Saul for our day. So it'd be good. We want to go into what Daniel, the prophecy of Daniel, remember Nebuchadnezzar had a dream and nobody could interpret it. And so Daniel goes before him and before being told what the dream was. and Daniel tells him what the dream he had was and then interpreted it for him. And so we read in Daniel chapter two, thou sawlest, so this is the vision that he saw, that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and break them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold broken to pieces together and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors and the wind carried them away that no place was found for them and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth for as much as thou saw us that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it break in pieces the iron the brass the clay the silver and the gold So this stone that was cut out of the mountain without hands. So often we hear that it was the stone that rolls down a hill is the image that I think most people get. But the prophet Joseph debunks that idea. He says, I will correct the idea in regard to the little stone rolling forward. It's not so. It is stationary like a grindstone. And like a grindstone, And then Joseph makes a circular motion like a grindstone does, and said that when the elders went abroad preaching the gospel, and people believed and obeyed the gospel and became believers in the book of Mormon, they were added to the little stone. Thus they gathered around it so that it grew larger and larger until it had already began to pinch the toes of the image, and it, meaning the stone would finally break the image in pieces and be carried away like the chaff of the summer thrashing floor while the stone kept growing until it filled the whole earth. So it's the kingdom of God, the political organization that grows until it crushes the nations of the earth. So we go back to the council of 50 minutes and their constitution brings out some, this was a proposed constitution, not the revealed one, but they continue to teach these principles because these are correct principles. So this proposed constitution is not really like a delegation of authority saying what government does and what it can't do and how it should do it. It was more like a manifesto. It was a declaration, calling the Declaration of Independence. And it laid out some key principles. They said that what they were doing was to hasten the accomplishment of his purposes, to fulfill the predictions of the prophets to establish a pure government. And they said that they were doing it as has been predicted by all the holy prophets since the world began to be brought to pass on the earth in the last days. So they weren't saying, oh, it's prophecy. There's nothing we can do about it. They said it's prophecy. Let's get to work. And the prophet Joseph Smith said that if the saints possess the kingdom, I think they'll have to take it. And the sooner it is done, the more easily it is accomplished. So if the early saints had taken the kingdom of God as they were supposed to, that's when it would be at its easiest. But it was difficult back then. And then each succeeding generation got more and more difficult. So right now it's going to be easier for us to do this than it will be for our kids or our grandkids. So are we going to say, well, there's nothing I can do about it and put it off for them to do even harder work? Or are we going to say, you know what? We were born into a situation and it's going to be tougher than it would have been in previous generations, but we've got to get to work. We've got to do this. We've got to take the kingdom. It is not going to be just dropped in our lap with us doing nothing. The kingdom of God is something that we are responsible to establish before his coming. So the third thing that needs to happen is the destruction of secret combinations. So what are secret combinations? What is a secret combination? Another word for your combination is conspiracy. What's the conspiracy? Latin to conspire, to agree, to unite, to plot, literally to breathe together from a simulated form of calm, with together, spire, to breathe. Perhaps on the notion of to agree by spoken oath to commit a bad act. Okay, so basically it's two or more people working in secret to do a bad thing. Surprise birthday party, not a conspiracy, right? So who doesn't believe that two or more people have gotten together to plan something bad in secret? That's absurd. Everybody believes that there's even laws against conspiracy. People are actually convicted of criminal conspiracy quite regularly. So there is a conspiracy that we face today. There's a global conspiracy that seeks a way to take the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries as we learn about in the scriptures. In Ether, chapter 8, Maroni, not Katha Maronai, but Maronai the son of Mormon, is laying out the Syrian combination that led to the destruction of the Jaredites. And then he says, this same conspiracy led to the destruction of the Nephites. And then you know what? You guys are reading this book because the people in my time aren't reading this book. So I'm talking to you guys in the last days that are reading this book, that believe this book is true. I'm going to tell you about the conspiracy in your day. He says, wherefore, O you Gentiles, it is wisdom in God that these things should be shown unto you, that thereby ye may repent of your sins, and suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you, which are built up to get power and gain. And the work, yea, even the work of destruction shall come upon you, yea, even the sword of the justice of the eternal God shall fall upon you to your overthrow and destruction if, if this, then that, if ye shall suffer or allow these things to be. So he's saying, I see your day and you need to repent of your sins and not continue to allow this conspiracy to continue. If you allow this conspiracy to continue, you will be held personally responsible and will receive consequences for it. It is our job to not allow it to continue to get above us. Wherefore the Lord commanded you, when you shall see these things come among you, that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation because of this seer accommodation, which shall be among you. You're commanded to wake up because of the seer accommodation. Wherefore I am Oronai, I'm commanded to write these things that evil may be done away, and at the time may come that Satan may have no power upon the hearts of the children of men. So ignoring, putting your head in the sand, saying that it doesn't matter, he's saying that, no, I'm commanded by God to tell you that this is happening so that evil may be done away, and that Satan will no longer have power. It is understanding these things that actually is able to remove evil from the earth and moves Satan's power over man. We have to repent of our sin, our specific sin, Maroni says, of allowing the conspiracy to get above us. And in Second Nephi, we learn about this that is going to be destroyed. Wherefore, for this cause that my covenants may be fulfilled, which I have made unto the children of men, that I will do unto them while they are in the flesh, I must need to destroy the secret works of darkness and of murders and of abomination. So he says that these have to be destroyed. But some people say, well, the Lord's going to do that for us because the Lord's going to fight our battles for us, whatever that means, right? We're going to get into that actually in a second. But just in direct contradiction to what Moranai said that we have a personal responsibility, a personal duty to repent of allowing it to be above us and that we were commanded to then work to not allow, to not have them be above us anymore. Now that we've woken up, now that we've read this we have a personal duty to do something about it so how is the lord going to do this right the lord is going to fight our battles for us an ambiguous thing that you can't say that you disagree with but what does it mean brigham young explain we all believe that the lord the lord will fight our battles but how will he do it while we are unconcerned and make no effort whatever for our own safety when an enemy is upon us we're just sitting here and then enemy's about to attack us, Lord, aren't you going to help me? You're going to fight my battles. Says, if we make no efforts to guard our towns, our houses, our cities, our wives and children, will the Lord guard them for us? He will not. But if we pursue the opposite course and arrive to help him to accomplish his designs, then he will fight our battles. So if we give him something to bless, he's going to be the wind at our back to help us to be as effective as possible in our fight against the satanic conspiracy that we face today. So our job is to stop the conspiracy before Christ returns. The next thing on this list of things is binding Satan. So many people that I've talked to say, well, that's going to happen after the Lord returns and he's going to bind Satan. But we've been corrected in this as well. This is not somebody else's job. This is our job. Daniel H. Wells said, we read that Satan shall be bound a thousand years. How is this to be accomplished? By our becoming so impregnated with the principles of the gospel, with the Holy Ghost, that an enemy will have no place in us or in our families and shedding forth that influence into our neighborhoods, bringing that from ourselves and an outward. The adversary is first to be driven from ourselves. We bind them ourselves. Then from our families, Satan is bound and has no more impact on our families, and then from our neighbors, next from our territory, and eventually from the nations until he shall find no place upon the face of the earth. We are to bind Satan by our actions. We are not passively waiting for someone else to do this for us, right? Then will he be bound? Yes, as far as this earth is concerned. So before the second coming, right, we've got to establish Zion, we've got to build the kingdom of God, we've got to destroy the serial combinations, we have to bind Satan. So we're to get things done, right? Dr. In Covenant says that we are to, it is not meet that I should command in all things for he that is compelled in all things the same as a slothful and not a wise servant, wherefore he receiveth no reward. We've been given with the principles have been laid, well, we don't need to be commanded in all things. We have the principle laid out before us. We have the injunction of what we are to do. We are now called to the work. We must restore a culture that will allow those with the calling and responsibility to establish priested government and have the people ready for that. So we need to be the worst global citizen and be the best citizen of the kingdom of God by doing the things that we've discussed tonight. And so building an understanding and building a culture that will allow these things to exist or what we're doing here at the Tree of Liberty Society.
