Member training from October 27th 2025.

This Tree of Liberty Society member training tackled one of the most subtle yet dangerous enemies of liberty—normalcy bias. The speaker warned that our greatest obstacle is not ignorance alone but our acceptance of false “normal” conditions that mask tyranny as ordinary life. Drawing on history, scripture, and principle, he showed how America’s original Constitution—a compact of consent—was replaced by a counterfeit through revolution and fraud, and how most people have been conditioned to see that as normal. He challenged members to stop merely resisting the worst new abuses and instead go on the offense: withdraw dependence on government systems, reject “necessary evils,” and live by the true principles of liberty that built free nations. The call was clear—if we wouldn’t accept a new law of tyranny today, we must stop accepting its old forms that have become familiar. Only then can we overcome normalcy bias and begin rebuilding a free and godly society.

Heavenly Father, We’re thankful to thee. We’re thankful that we could be here and gather together for
a wise and glorious purpose.
We are working to
clean up our society and faced with a big job,
we come to thee for help. Father, would thou guide us in what we ask thee for?
Would thou strengthen us to do what thou answers us?
Father, please help us to have
clear and active minds that we may have
a clearer vision of what we should do.
We ask a blessing on Ben and his cohorts and that they may collectively have
knowledge and hidden treasures of knowledge
advanced into their minds, that they may
have a clarity of vision. In the name of Jesus Christ,
amen. Talking about normalcy bias and how it hinders our efforts, it’s something that
we all have a sense of some sort of normalcy bias of what we’re used to and what
we’re not and it’s important for us to recognize it because when we don’t recognize
it it actually hurts what we’re doing to be able to go on the offense to defend
liberty i’ll get into that more but i want to remind everybody that of course the
reason what we’re in the situation that we’re in is because of our lack of
knowledge and so it’s important that every week we’re doing something to solve that
problem amongst ourselves. If we ever, you know, come to a point that we think
we’ve got it made in the knowledge department, we can use that as a sign that
we’re in trouble because there is always something to learn. And I’ll tell you what,
I’ve been spending a lot of time at this, you know, full time for the past 25
years. And I still learn big things every week and so and what is the trading
title tonight the trading title is normalcy bias hindering our efforts okay it
disappeared when I wasn’t looking you’re good okay and of course we should take it
all in the context of our purpose to build understanding and adherence to the
principles that have built free nations, expose the satanic conspiracy, and build an
effective resistance to that conspiracy. So there’s some principles in the news that
I want to cover that lead us into this idea of normalcy bias and how do we fight
it. But if you remember in our boot camp, I said something that was very,
You know, I think hurt people, struck them to the core. And that is that the
America of 1789 is dead. That what we think of America, it hasn’t existed for over
100 years. And that probably hits a lot of you right even now, as I say it again.
And I point out, you know, all of the ideas and principles that the founding
fathers laid out in the Declaration of Independence for why they declared independence
and showed how we were in.
And we leave, you know, Illinois, when we leave the United States, we don’t intend
to go under any other government, even though they believed under revelation that the
Constitution was inspired by God, that the government itself had apositized from it
to such an extent that there was nothing left to save. And that was in 1845.
And so, you know, as extreme as it might sound to some people in 2025, You can
only imagine the thought process in 1845. But there was a couple of recent articles
in the Mises Institute website, one from 2021.
So four years ago, the title is, is the Constitution broken beyond repair?
And so if you’re not aware, the Mises Institute, they’re kind of a libertarian
organization. Me quoting from them isn’t an endorsement of the organization itself,
but just showing how I’m not the only crazy one saying these things. And then
another one from just a few days ago, we have their article. It’s a follow -up,
actually, from the 2021 article, how progressives broke the Constitution and praised
themselves for it and so these are these are two articles that really expand and
give additional examples to what I gave in the boot camps and in the first article
is the constitution broken beyond repair he quotes from you refers to the book the
broken constitution by a college professor university professor Noah Feldman.
And he says about the book, the broken constitution, Feldman aims to vindicate
Lincoln as the founder of a second constitution that arose after the Civil War.
To establish the new constitution, Lincoln overthrew the first one, and it is in
showing the extent to which he did so that Feldman contributes to position so
there’s so the university professors out there are bragging they’re they’re they’re
happy about that so him saying that Lincoln established a second constitution after
abolishing the first he wasn’t complaining about Lincoln he was actually praising
Lincoln for it because according to these historians they believe the original
constitution was evil and immoral and so it was good so it’s kind of this this
wasn’t on purpose that i’m bringing up lincoln stuff again uh like from last week
but it’s it’s it’s relevant to the overall situation um and it’s important to
understand it from this additional perspective so we see the latter day saints saying
that the constitution was um that the United States had apositized from the
Constitution by the 1840s. And then we have others looking throughout the history of
the Union. And they’re saying basically its official death of the original
constitution was during the Civil War.
And so, you know, whichever one you want to look at, you know, how many times does
an animal die before it’s dead and we can see you know clearly several times these
examples of situations where we can say hey you know what the original constitution
according to experts in that field say that the one that the founding fathers gave
us in 1789 doesn’t exist
further on in the in the next article from just a few days ago he says to the
great rejoicing among some constitutional lawyers over the fact that to establish the
new constitution lincoln overthrew the first one so we see this same thing or their
their constitutional lawyers are rejoicing that the constitution of the founding
fathers was overthrown and a new constitution the one that is followed today was
then established he continues on this is indeed one reason why some of lincoln’s
admirers still celebrate the burning of the south by the union army the devastation
and destruction of the south symbolizes for them the brave new world of equality and
social justice forged by a righteous army through fire and steel so these progressive
liberal anti -founding fathers experts are grateful for the burning of the south and
the using of might equals right to destroy the evil wicked constitution I use evil
wicked in quotes of the founding fathers according to these
And so that’s, you know, to me, that gives what they’re saying more credibility
because they’re not just naysayers. They are coming from a different perspective than
I am. They love what Lincoln did, and they’re saying yes, and what he did, we are
both on the same page. Lincoln destroyed the original constitution. I say that’s
horrible. They say that’s wonderful.
Continues on, they believe that deliberately subverting the Constitution is actually
very good if it is done with good intentions, namely intentions of which progressives
approve. So they’re like, yeah, of course, it’s good to disobey the Constitution as
long as it’s to get our New World Order agenda through. As they see it,
the new Constitution created by Lincoln’s War is more egalitarian and just so and
just so it’s you know justice and just than the old one written by slave owners so
of course they have to undermine anything ever done by a slave owner the same
people that would undermine you know father abraham for his ownership of slaves or
moses etc they believe the overthrow of the old constitution
communes during the 1860s and he was well known and a supporter of the cause of
this new Constitution of Lincoln and he held up a copy of the U .S. Constitution
and he branded it as the source and parent of all other atrocities,
a covenant with death and an agreement with hell. Does anybody know the reference to
a covenant with death and an agreement with hell? What’s it referring to?
Anybody?
I can’t see if you’re raising your hand. I’m sorry. So, because it’s not letting me
know if you are, go ahead and just chime in.
Is that the same as the
manifesto well it’s that the scripture is referenced there as well yes so it’s
there’s a picture in the old testament that uses that quote so
he’s talking about Isaiah so Isaiah seeing the last days saying that that that the
people have made a covenant with death in an agreement with hell. So he’s saying
that the signing of the Constitution was what Isaiah saw as a wicked people signing
an agreement with hell. Okay. So as the nation’s founding document burned to ashes,
he cried out, so perish all compromises with tyranny. So he burned the constitution.
So he wasn’t America the government he wasn’t you know in effigy he wasn’t saying
he didn’t like the rascals that were administering the government he said he hated
the very foundation of it and he wanted and he found it to be tyrannical and he
wanted it to be destroyed and so this is the attitude of those that established
this so -called second constitution okay so in this book government by judiciary.
It’s a book published by Liberty Fund, people that publish fantastic classics in the
Liberty Movement, going back to the 1700s and I think even before, documents that
the United States Supreme Court largely through abuses of the 14th Amendment to the
Constitution has embarked on a continuing revision of the Constitution under the guise
of interpretation. And so they just get to reinterpret the Constitution to mean
whatever they want it to mean without any amendments to do so. And so advocates of
judicial activism began to assert that neither the words of the Constitution nor the
intentions of the framers are any longer relevant. And if you remember,
this is about, I don’t know, 15, 20 years ago now that Ruth Bader Ginsburg actually
said that we don’t look towards the founding fathers anymore. We don’t look towards
the Federalist papers to explain to us what the Constitution means to settle our
court decisions now in the Supreme Court of the United States. We look to
international law. We look to the UN Charter. We look to those types of things.
And so this is what they’re talking about. When they want to get rid of that, they
hate the original constitution, and they’ve given us a new one. And this is the
normal what is practiced in courtrooms all across America today is not the
constitution of the Founding Fathers. It is this second constitution that we’ve been
talking about. The idea of the Constitution and the Tradition of the Founding Fathers
is not something that any courtroom will accept. It is not something that 99 .99 %
of members of Congress will support, even those that can pretend to be conservative.
It is not something that you will hear anybody in mainstream law support.
It is this new constitution that was established under Lincoln. I would say that
this process began, as Brigham Young said, going back to the late 1830s or the
1840s, but,
you know, that’s neither here nor there. So we’re not dealing with ignorance that
simply needs to better understand the Constitution. And that’s what you hear so often
with people that, You know, they’ll talk to an elected official or a talking head
and they think, well, that guy just doesn’t know something. No, we’re dealing with a
conspiracy, right? We’re dealing with a conspiracy that has replaced the Constitution
through revolution and fraud and that the fraud is benefited by normalcy bias.
Because all of those things that the average person doesn’t understand that the
original, that the Constitution of the Founding Fathers was a compact by consent.
Today, we think because of normalcy bias, that we are part of an inseparable union,
right? One nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all, right? That’s what
we’re brainwashed with every single day, but that’s the new constitution. That is not
the constitution of the Founding others, but because of normalcy bias,
we have come as a culture to accept what as normal,
as what is true, those things that are not true.
And so what is normalcy bias, just to make sure that we’re all on the same page
and the same definitions. Normalcy bias or normality bias is a cognitive bias,
which leads people to disbelieve or minimize threat warnings.
Consequently, individuals underestimate the likelihood of a disaster when it might
affect them and its potential adverse effects. So,
you know, another concept that this has been, you know, used to illustrate this
concept is the frog where you’ve you know if you have a bunch of live frogs in a
pot of water and you turn the water up real fast they’re all going to jump out
but if you slowly one degree at a time turn the temperature up the frogs get
comfortable and it’s not anything different it’s the way it’s always been and you’re
you know an extremist if you think that this isn’t the way that it’s always And,
you know, when all of a sudden you’re 10, 20, 30 degrees warmer than you were when
you were first put in the pot. And everybody around you is saying, no, this is the
way it’s always been. And so this is normalcy bias. And normalcy bias in the terms
of the Constitution because a lot of our normalcy of the Constitution, as we’ve
covered here, right, the second Constitution was put into place before any of us
were born. And so all of us are our parents, our parents, our grandparents.
the police state that happened after 9 -11 is all normal to them. That’s not weird
to them. It would be weird to go back to thing life before 9 -11, I think, in a
lot of ways for people born after the 2000s. You know,
I’m trying to think of things that, you know, I can’t think anything at the top of
my head, but I know for a fact that there are things that happened during my
parents’ generation that are just normal to me and so but but they shouldn’t be
because they’re not right and but we’re it was just the way it was when we started
doing things and so it’s just it’s the cost to doing business and so we’ve just
began to accept something that is unacceptable so I want to play this clip I know
this is from Braveheart and I know Braveheart’s not historically historically accurate
movie. It’s not the point. It’s a it’s a great movie that teaches great principles.
Whether it’s historically accurate or not is to me irrelevant to the point. And so
there’s an important, I’m going to show a clip that illustrates a very important
point.
Oops.
Yeah.
Hey, Sir William, where are you going?
We have beaten the English, but they’ll come back. Because you won’t stand together.
What will you do? I will invade England and defeat the English on their own ground.
Indeed. There’s impossible. Why? Why is that impossible? You’re so concerned with
squabbling for the scraps from Longshank’s table that you’ve missed your God -given
right to something better. There’s a difference between us. You think the people of
this country exist to provide you with position. I think your position exists to
provide those people with freedom and I go to make sure that they have
it so well so that website Lester magistrate they wrote the book the on the the
the principle of the doctrine of the Lester magistrates that teaches this principle
but we see the point laid out there is they’ve had this great victory and now they
just want to negotiate for a little bit more comfort as opposed to you know they
are a different they are an independent country that is under the rule of a foreign
power and they’re not interested in getting rid of what they what what they’re used
to. They were all born under this normalcy bias of being ruled over by a foreign
country. And so the idea of saying, you know what, we’re not going to be ruled by
a foreign country anymore was just outrageous. It was radical. It was extreme. It
was unreasonable. It was something that you know, you were going,
you were making the perfect, the enemy of the good and all these other excuses that
people give to just keep things the way they are.
And because, you know, a lot of us, you know, we are born to this,
we say, oh, you’re right, that is extreme. That’s never been that way in our
lifetime. And so what I’m trying to do here is unreasonable and unacceptable. We
just have to, you know, accept, you know, we have to get a seat at the table and
hope for the best we can get.
that every other freedom organization out there is, it’s about negotiation. It’s about
slowing things down. It’s about just negotiating that the next bill isn’t as bad as
they want it to be. That’s what everybody talks about. Nobody talks about no to
this, and not only know to this, but we’re repealing this. Nobody talks about that
because everybody accepts the normalcy bias of the way it is and that’s why
government gets bigger and bigger. We see spending go up and up and up. We see the
police state go up and up and up because going backwards is unreasonable. We can
only hope to slow the increase is what everybody says. And that’s where everybody
comes from. And that’s why things keep getting worse. The only way things stop
getting worse is by not accepting normalcy bias and then and reversing the trend.
It’s the only way things will actually stop getting worse. So just kind of give you
an example. We had this during the fake pandemic in the state of Utah. They had a
legislation, local government emergency response. And in the bill it says exercises
physical control so over where the government gets to exercise physical control over
property and over individuals and so that was a big deal right so we were and so
i was a part of a movement that was making a big hullabaloo about this saying this
was really horrible that this is unacceptable giving the government power without due
process especially to control people’s property and their bodies. That’s insane.
But we have the response of these, basically we saw of the establishment in that
William Wallace or that Braveheart clip, we have Libertas Institute saying,
you know, this merely references new language what already exists in legal authority.
So they were saying it wasn’t a big deal. Who cares? It’s already in law. And so
instead of saying, yes, this is horrible, we need to stop this. They were just
saying, that’s already, you know, it’s a good bill because, and it’s nothing new.
Who cares?
Normalcy bias excuses the tyranny that exists and allows new tyranny to be
established. So now just think of, you know, just imagine your mind, a new bill
introduced in the legislature of Congress that says, one minute of every eight -hour
day you work goes to fund the dismemberment and murder of a child okay they
actually boldly just came out and said that every every every minute every one
minute of every one minute of every day that you go to work is going to go
towards funding the dismemberment and murder of a child now right you’d have people
up in arms and pitchforks you’d have people being willing to be arrested and saying
you know what no i’m not going to allow that to happen that’s that is wicked and
evil and i will never allow that to happen
but frankly that’s essentially what already law because 300 million dollars in taxes
go to plan parenthood every year 300 million and other taxes go directly to
abortion, other abortion clinics, hospitals, other facilities that perform abortions.
And over, so that’s combined over $6 million of the money that you make every
single month goes to the dismemberment and murder of an unborn baby.
So when we think of it as a new law, we’re to do that, they were to come out
and say that, then we’re like okay you know what I’m going to go to jail before
I’d love that to happen but because we don’t realize that because of normalcy bias
we are already doing that
and we can see with this illustration how dangerous and how wicked normalcy bias is
because now you know what are what what are What are most of us? What are any of
us going to do tomorrow differently, knowing that a portion of our labor tomorrow is
going to go fund the murder of a baby?
But because it’s most likely not going to change very much because it’s something
that we’re already used to. And that’s the danger of normalcy bias. Okay.
What else?
Okay, but now having some gun laws, you have the number one gun rights lobbyist
group, the NRA would never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever be seen lobbying to get
rid of all gun laws. You would never say that. The next year, the court ruled,
supposedly, that Congress could regulate selling shotguns across state lines because
that’s interstate commerce and then 1968 they added tracking to firearms and was the
first time that the fed said that people couldn’t be on equal footing with owning
weapons 1986 they banned more firearms from the people disguised as the firearm
owners protection act 1993 prohibited former criminals from owning guns now today you
would you’re not going to find hardly any conservatives that will say, oh,
yeah, felons should be able to own guns. You’re not going to hear hardly anybody
say that. But I would say the principle is, have they served their time?
Otherwise, you’re giving them a life sentence.
2018, red flag laws began passing where if anyone says that you might be dangerous,
the government can take your gun and provide due process at some future date. So
they can steal your property from you without due process whatsoever. These are,
this is becoming the new normal. And this is, you know, these are the last one.
This is under the president that we currently have. And so he’s in favor of that.
He’s, he, the exact phrase that he used was, Take the guns first, due process
second.
So what we see here is, has become normal. The red flag laws are a little less
normal, but all of the other ones are things that would be called by even your,
you know, by any of your mainstream talking head gun rights organizations as quote
-unquote, common sense, that we’re not going to go repeal those. Obamacare just passed
in 2009. Not a single Republican is even talking about repealing Obamacare completely.
It’s always repeal and replace, reform it, all those types of things. These laws,
they become the norm.
So we can look at the myths of effective action, and we talked about this before,
right? This does not help normalcy bias, right? Just donating elections, why we don’t
focus on these things? Because these are the things that actually benefit the
conspiracy. They say that your rights come from government and that you cannot
exercise them until government says you can. Whereas we have proven solutions
throughout history, right? We’re talking like seven, you know,
six thousand years of history that proves this. These are the things that benefit
building the kingdom of God.
Organizing, join with others to produce the things to separate yourself from the, uh,
the conspiracies, economic structure And then defense, nullification, interposition.
These are the things that work, not the things on the right, the things that work,
the things on the left, are the things that prove, that are proven to strengthen
and entrench normalcy bias, to strengthen and entrench the growth of government and
the growth of tyranny. So, but so we have to independency on our would -be masters
if we are going to do the things on the right. Okay, just give you some examples,
right? So we have to say no to government school because if you send your child to
government school, you are agreeing to what they indoctrinate your child with. you’re
agreeing that during that time period that they are that your child is their
property you look at schools today um whereas when i was when i went to school if
a parent wanted to take a kid out to go on vacation go on a field trip with the
family spend some time with the family what it didn’t matter the parent would just
say yes the child’s excused today you can’t do that.
You have to have a doctor’s note. You have to have some kind of a third party
proof that the absence is quote unquote legitimate according to the standards of the
government school. And you have to accept that because you have submitted your child
to them. And so they get to tell you what is acceptable and what is not as an
excuse to take your child out of their institution. And so if you want to be able
to have liberty, you can’t be under that.
You can’t have government housing, HUD, Social Security, food stamps. You look at
what’s happening right now with the government shutdown. People that are dependent
upon the government or their sustenance are now having their sustenance threatened.
And so we can never become independent. If we depend on that, with the government,
and we’ll talk about what the government funds, the government controls, but that is
a documented fact. And I want to tell an example.
There was a leader in the, well, a speaker in the John Birch Society.
And he grew up, he was a child in national socialist Germany during World War II.
And, you know, we hear about Hitler taking away people’s guns and banning guns as a
way to be able to build his tyranny. But it wasn’t like you had the Gestapo going
door to door taking people’s guns. He told the story in his neighborhood. What
happened was The food ration stamps, the food stamps for that week for a week
didn’t show up. Everybody was like a little concerned. They’re like, well, that’s
what’s going on. Things must be rough. And another week goes by. The same thing.
Things are getting tighter. The cupboards are getting more and more bare. And they,
you know, still didn’t get their stamps to go get their food that week. And then
by the third the third week, the cupboards are completely empty. People are going
hungry. But instead of the food ration stamps, a letter comes in the mail to the
entire neighborhood that says Bob down the street still has guns.
Food rations will commence again when that’s no longer the case. So the Gestapo
didn’t have to go grab Bob’s guns. His neighbors did that for him.
for them because they need it to live because they don’t know how to go do it on
their on their own they feel like they can’t do it on their own because of you
know whatever their situation is and so they go and they become an assistant to the
tyranny government contracts you have businesses i remember during the financial crisis
in 2008 created by the government where where you had these salesmen that generally
depended on contracts with private companies. Because those private companies were not
buying as much products anymore,
their sales manager was then teaching them to how to get more government contracts,
how to get the government agencies to buy their widgets. And so an example of the
dangers of that was back in 2010, how old year was that,
2019, I think it was.
The governor Herbert was running for reelection, and he was going to businesses that
had large government contracts. And he was telling them, you know, our campaign could
really use.
if we really want to say no if we really want to go on the offense we have to
put our money where our mouth is by saying no to these things by saying you know
what i’m going to take responsibility you know what yes i do pay property taxes and
so i’m going to be double charged to to get my kids educated because i’m going to
be taxed and i’m going to pay for my kids private school for my kids tutor or for
the curriculum that my kid needs you know my wife needs to teach our kids um you
know it is going to be an increased cost and it is going to the there is going
to be sacrifice that has to be made because we are overcoming normalcy bias that’s
why they wanted it to become normal in the first place because when you’re going
against the grain you are less likely to do it. And so that’s why it’s so
important to go against the grain because that is what they fear. That is what
stops them from being able to do what they do. And so it’s essential if we really
want liberty, if we’re really serious about it, that a part of the going on the
offense is if this is a part of our life, that we say no more.
We are going to do what we can to stop doing that and to get rid of it
completely. Okay.
So we have to look at what are laws that we accept right now because it’s always
been that way. Maybe we don’t like it, right? We say, oh, that’s a necessary evil.
But we go along with it because it’s the way it’s always been. But we think about
that same law that we say we go along with because it’s the way it’s always been,
but if it had not always been that way, and it was a new law now, like the
example I gave with abortion, would we be willing to give our lives to stop?
So that’s an exercise I would like us all to do, is to find,
you know, look at things that we comply with because it’s always been that way. But
if it was new, we would give our lives, meaning our liberty,
to stop it from being implemented and say, you know what? I’m not going to put up
with normalcy bias anymore. If it’s something I wouldn’t put up with as new today,
I need to stop putting up with it even though it’s been there my whole life. You
know, we talk about digital IDs
and that’s kind of the one of the next things are we prepared to be able to not
do it are we or are we going to be so entrenched in the system that to keep our
jobs to be able to drive to work to be you know the list goes on and on and on
are we going to make the sacrifice necessary not to have to take the new next step
in the tyranny. Or are we going to say, well, my family needs to eat, so I
welcome our new insect overlords and just accept it.
Or are we going to say, you know what, this far, no further, and I’m going to
start going on the offense, and I’m going to stop obeying things that I’ve already
been obeying. Because we have to make sure that we are not conditioned to accept
the next level of tyranny, and we have to go on the offense and resist that. So
to help us in this effort, I really want to go make sure that we are constantly
being reminded about our member manual, to get to know it, to implement its action
items, to ensure that we are going on the offense, and that you are ready to
resist those next steps towards tyranny. So I see some comments there in the chat,
which I’m going to go through. But do we have some time? Oh, it is exactly 10 o
‘clock. So I will address those in the open forum. And we can have additional
discussions as well
with that. But let’s go ahead and have a closing prayer. And I’m going to ask,
Linda, would you be willing to unmute and give us the closing prayer? Our dear
Heavenly Father, as we come before thee this night, we want to express our gratitude
and appreciation for the concern and the research and the sharing that the Tree of
Liberty brings to us. And we ask you to bless us that we might have thy spirit to
be with us, to guide us and direct us, to help us understand truth,
to expose truth, and join together as a group and become strong as a society of
truth and constitutional privileges,
principles and godly principles. We ask that we may have thy spirit to weave with
us that we may move forward, make progress and understand these principles that we’re
being taught and we’re grateful for those who are teaching. In the name of Jesus
Christ, amen.
