The “black pill” is a play on the movie The Matrix, in which the main character must choose between the red pill—waking up to a reality he had never known—or the blue pill, returning to the blissful sleep of ignorance. The so-called “black pill” merges the two: you are aware of what is happening, yet, like an immoral coward, choose to do nothing about the evil around you.
